The day starts like any other
Look into the mirror
Wave goodbye
and don't give it a thought
Just part of a wheel in motion
going around and around
check the mail = another bill
another satisfied customer
another finger in the pie
a meaningless glance
a daydream
a roll of the dice
it's pure chance
Problems solved
solutions proven false
a deep breath, sigh, relief
but we scratch our heads again
thinking about not thinking
zoning out, escape
but the eyes are still staring
waiting for the answers
relying on you
baited breath
to take and not to give
to fake and not to live
playing a game with only one winner
the saint or sinner?
A bit of both maybe the secret to unfold
- or so I'm told

Then the band kicks into second gear
and the after a while the choir joins in
The violins climb the treble cleff
and gaze over the smog of the city
across the fields and valleys
the endless blue sky blends into the deep blue waters
The brass section announces it's time
It's time
time to make our way down to the bottom frets
and the tempo drops to a heart beat
Can you feel my heart beat?
Is it in time with yours?
or is it just my imagination?
